Humble Words August 2010

The Humble Words newsletter is our way to keep you informed about projects we are working on, projects we have completed and new things to come. In this issue we introduce you to a new (at least in the U.S.) building material that could have a major impact on construction across many industries.
Humble Services:

Steel Fabrication

Special Projects
We recently found this photo from the early days of our company. Back in 1959 we could fit in this building. Three years ago we moved into the building shown above -- a 6,000 sq. ft. office adjacent to our 100,000 sq. ft. warehouse and steel fabrication facility. We also opened an office in Columbus, Ohio this year.

The number of services that we offer has grown over the years, but the way we do business remains the same. We hold ourselves accountable. That means we do what it takes to get jobs done on time, on budget and to the satisfaction of our customers.

Over the years, we have seen many new construction materials and methods come and go. Maybe it's the nature of the business or maybe it's just an inherent need to constantly improve. Some of these products have allowed us to provide additional value to our customers through quality and pricing advantages. But rarely have we been so excited about the potential of a new construction material than we are right now.

The product has a mouthful of a name: Autoclaved Aerated Concrete. So we call it AAC for short. It has been used extensively for the past 60 years in all areas of construction in Europe. These buildings, made with AAC, have stood for more than a half century and are still in use today. Now, Humble Construction is a distributor and approved contractor of this incredible product in the United States.

Advantages of AAC
  •  Energy Efficient
  •  Fire Resistant
  •  Environmentally Responsible
  •  Durable
  •  Lightweight
  •  Dimensionally Accurate
  •  Low Maintenance
  •  Low Construction Cost
  •  Design Flexibility
  •  Breathable
  •  Sound Absorbent

AAC offers all the benefits of conventional concrete -- strength, versatility, fire resistance, etc. But it is much lighter and easier to install. Plus, it offers insulation from noise and heat that conventional concrete can't provide.

AAC can be manufactured into precise dimensions to match the specific need of the building. Sometimes it comes in blocks similar in size to a traditional concrete block. Other times it works better to have large panels. With a little advanced planning, you can determine the best dimensions for your application. AAC is very adaptable to the needs of the construction process and the goals of the design.

Give us a call to learn more about this incredible product. It could be the answer for your next construction project.
